I am Iyiola-Afilaka Toluwalase oluwabusyomi , I am known by my stage name TOLU AFILAKA, Comedian/Master of ceremony, i am the second of three children ,I come from Osun state ilesa, to add im also an undergraduate, studying to earn my first degree in Civil engineering.
What is growing up like for you?
Growing up was amazing! I had the best childhood anyone could wish they had, im not one of those COMEDIANS that will say I grew up in POVERTY. I went to the best school , wore the best clothes , travelled to the best holiday destinations , ate the best food , exposed to the right things. But one thing I didn’t have was freedom, my parent were over protective, we had everything at home so there was no reason for us to go out. One of our securities at home was even sacked because I just went to the shop opposite my house to buy FANTA , but later things got better . My mum disciplined me especially she molded me to what I am, she rarely touched my sister, my dad didn’t believe in flogging but when he did you can never forget , ofcourse I was the troublesome one but I thank God my parents accepted me for who I am .
What do you like doing in your spare time?
Well, in my spare time I try to engage in activities that make me better, as a comedian working on my jokes, watching other comedians , reading history , generally as a person ; I just read, meditate then start working on. For me it all starts with a book and pen.
I take professional courses, in summary things that make me better, ofcourse it takes discipline to do all this, so I make sure i atleast do a little each day. I believe you are your greatest investment or better still asset and you shouldn’t give people reason to price you cheap.
